Performance Arts and Music
The Performance Arts teachers at RGS have a long-standing tradition of providing students with an array of unrivalled exciting and challenging opportunities. You will have the chance to take part in:
- School Productions – we produce school productions for Junior and Senior Schools in which students have the chance to perform in the school theatre. Recent shows have included Sister Act, Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, and Independence Day.
- Dance classes are offered to all class and the House Dance Competition are organised.
- Speech and Drama as Showcase.
- Performance Programme – students are invited to apply to be part of our bespoke Performance Programme in which successful candidates are offered specialist workshops and trips designed to inspire our most gifted students.
- There are also several trips to the theatre and workshops throughout the academic year.
All RGS students are encouraged to audition for the various productions and showcase throughout the year.

We have comprehensive Performing Arts facilities
The Multi-purpose Hall (Audi) is a large and flexible space which forms the centrepiece of the school’s Performing Arts area. It features:
- Comprehensive lighting rig and sound system
- Seating can also be curtained off to create an atmospheric events area
- Green room, prop and costume store and dressing facilities are also available.
Music Room 1 is a large space separately available from the school building. It is used for the Music classroom, as a rehearsal room and peripatetic Dance Lessons and contains a comprehensive sound system.
Dance 2 and The Studio They contain lighting facilities mirrored walls and up-to-date projection and sound systems.
Speech and Drama are taught at School House – away from the hustle and bustle of the main School building. Several teaching rooms are available as well as a small library of play scripts.
