House System
House System
The House System at RGS was first conceived in 2011, as a focal point for internal competition, mainly for sporting events.
The house system provides a good platform for the holistic development of students. It forms the basis of all competitions in the school and promotes team spirit, group loyalty and healthy competition. The school is divided into four houses after the names of the rivers i.e. Ganga (Red), Yamuna (Green), Brahmaputra (Blue) & Narmada (Yellow). Students compete in the Inter-house competitions, demonstrating their talents and skills, bringing Laurels to their respective houses.
The House system plays a more central role in the School and reinvigorates internal competition whilst upholding its fine traditions. Four Heads of House were appointed from the staff under the direction of a Head of House, with the brief to establish a modern House system
The New House System
The Houses are managed by School Captain. Bell, Farrar, Mobbs, Oatley, Rose and Tilden.
There are activities to suit everyone, and there is the opportunity to take part in something new. Students can lead and help organise a team and enjoy competing with friends. The House system aims to provide a broad base of student participation in a wide range of cultural, intellectual and physical activities:
- They are to be organised for the students by the students under the direction of appointed Heads of House and voluntary staff
- To provide an enjoyable competitive programme of events over the school year culminating in the annual award of the Championship House Trophy to the winning House
- To develop teamwork and learning through experience
- To develop an individual and collective commitment
- To promote leadership opportunities.
